Privacy Policy

"Direct Answers" is a newspaper column written by Wayne and Tamara Mitchell. In submitting a letter or e-mail, you should be aware that names are always changed if the letter or e-mail is published in any form, whether print, online or by any other means. Letters and e-mail are edited to conform to newspaper style and for space. In addition, other identifying information may be changed. For example, a plumber might be said to be a carpenter, or a woman with three children may be said to have two or four children.

We never share e-mail or physical addresses with any other party for any purpose. Nor do we use any e-mail or physical address except to acknowledge receipt of a letter or e-mail, and/or to provide an answer to a question. Wayne and Tamara answer as many letters as they can. Given the volume of letters received the chances any one letter will be published are small, but you should know that possibility exists. (See Terms of Service)

We never publish letters or e-mail where the writer says "do not publish or post my letter," or words to that effect. However, including that request reduces the chance the letter or e-mail will be answered. The reason you are able to write Direct Answers is because other letter writers allowed their letter to be used.  If every letter writer restricted use of their letter or e-mail, there would be no newspaper column,  no website and no answers.

All information gathered on this website is stored within a database to which only we and our hosting services provider are provided access. However, as effective as the reasonable security measures implemented by us may be, no physical or electronic security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of our website’s servers or databases, nor can we guarantee that information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the Internet.

By using this website  you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and to use this website in accordance with these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to change these Terms of Service from time to time. By continuing to use this website after we post any such changes, you accept the Terms of Service as modified.

When you submit a letter or e-mail, you grant us, and anyone authorized by us, a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, unrestricted, worldwide license to use, copy, modify, transmit, sell, exploit, create derivative works from, distribute, and/or publicly perform or display such material, in whole or in part, in any manner or medium (whether now known or hereafter developed), for any purpose that we choose. The foregoing grant includes the right to exploit any proprietary rights in such letter or e-mail, including, but not limited to, rights under copyright, trademark and other laws that exist in any relevant jurisdiction. You will not receive any compensation of any kind for the use of any letter or e-mail you submit.
